The Kentucky Colonels provide our members – all having been commissioned Kentucky Colonels by a Kentucky Governor – opportunities to continue their philanthropic efforts, connect with other Colonels, and extend the Kentucky Colonels’ circles of influence in the Commonwealth and around the world.

The Good Works Program

While our members are indeed generous, most lead busy lives and have essentially delegated the allocation of their charitable dollars to the Kentucky Colonels.

Each grant application is reviewed and vetted by the Kentucky Colonels’ Board of Trustees. Trustees invest countless unpaid hours to ensure member donations find the most needy and deserving recipient…and impact the most people.

In 2020, our trustees reviewed 290 applications, granting nearly $1.5 million to 133 organizations serving annually more than 3.8 million people…which is over half the citizens in the Commonwealth. We continue to review COVID-19-related emergency grant applications through the end of 2020.

In addition, on April 14, 2020, the Honorable Order stepped up in a leadership role to provide an unprecedented $1 million contribution to the Team Kentucky Fund. This fund provides assistance to Kentuckians who have been severely financially impacted by the COVID-19 emergency.

In the event of a large scale events around the globe, such as a natural disaster, the Kentucky Colonels will rally the ranks with a call for emergency donations.
