The Limestone Award is a distinguished honor bestowed by the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, celebrating exceptional generosity and commitment to community impact. Named after Kentucky’s iconic limestone, a symbol of strength, resilience, and historical significance, this award recognizes a Colonel whose contributions have profoundly enriched the lives of others.

Recipients of the Limestone Award are pillars of the community, demonstrating an unwavering dedication to community improvement, leadership, and philanthropy. Just as limestone forms the bedrock of Kentucky’s heritage, the honoree has created a lasting foundation for positive change, leaving a legacy that inspire others to follow their example.

This award is a testament to the power of giving oneself and the deep impact of those who invest in a brighter future for all.

The Limestone Award Nomination Criteria

The deadline for the nomination will be July 31st of each year.

Only individual Kentucky Colonels are eligible for this award. Nominations for couples, groups, or organizations are not eligible.
Nominations will only be accepted via this online form.
The nominee must be nominated by a Kentucky Colonel; self-nominations will not be accepted.
The nominee must be a Kentucky Colonel for at least five (5) years.
The nominee must be a contributing Colonel to the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels for at least five (5) years at any donation level.
Nominations must include noteworthy accomplishments and service to his/her community for at least five (5) years.
Nominations may include up to three professional or nonprofit letters of support.
All fields must be completed on the nomination form.
The nomination cannot be saved, and the form must be submitted at one time. Hint: You may wish to prepare a Word document ahead of time to copy and paste responses into the nomination form.
The selection committee will only review what is submitted on the form.

The selection committee will review all nominations meeting the above criteria. Names, contact information, and age will be redacted from the nomination form during the selection committee’s review.

Limestone Award recipient will be invited and recognized at the Colonels Homecoming Weekend.

The Limestone Award is not an annual award and the selection committee has the right to not select a Colonel.
