Colonel Brittany Campbell is the founder of Strengthening Transformations, Inc., the first Black woman-led nonprofit in Versailles, Kentucky. Guided by the mission of “Transforming adversities into strengths,” Colonel Campbell has dedicated her life to empowering minority women and girls to overcome challenges and break generational cycles through advocacy, mentorship, and education. She is a proud graduate of Kentucky State University, and she brings passion, purpose, and authenticity to her community engagement. Above all, she is a devoted mother to her son, who serves as a constant source of motivation.
One of the Strengthening Transformations’ early initiatives was the Father Daughter Dance at the Woodford County Detention Center. For six years, the event created unforgettable moments of connection, featuring red carpets, donated gowns, and five-course meals, providing a space for healing between incarcerated fathers and their daughters.
The organization also started a Young Mothers Luncheon in partnership with All God’s Children, celebrating teenage mothers with an elegant Tiffany-themed event and speakers who had successfully overcome the adversities of early motherhood.
Today, the organization continues to make a difference with several signature programs:
- Friendship Fest: Now in its 8th year, this large-scale back-to-school event serves hundreds of families annually, recently distributing 746 backpacks and 328 “Look Good, Feel Good” bags.
- The Nia Club Mentorship: Monthly mentorship sessions with high school girls at Woodford County High School addressing self-esteem, peer pressure, social media, life skills, and much more.
- Katie Mae Coats of Kindness: A coat drive honoring Brittany’s grandmother at the Woodford County High School, providing winter coats to children in Woodford County.
- Patricia’s Hearts to Heal: A trauma recovery retreat for young minority women and girls who have experienced traumatic loss, focused on faith, self-care, healing, and empowerment.
Last Month, Colonel Brittany Campbell was the first minority individual to receive the Key to the City of Versailles presented by Mayor Laura Drake, and was further honored by County Judge Executive James Kay for her dedication to the Woodford County community. Colonel Campbell was nominated and recommended for her commission to become a Kentucky Colonel in recognition of the extensive and transformative work her organization has accomplished throughout the Woodford County community.
Congratulations and thank you for all that you do, Colonel Campbell!
