Born in 1941, Colonel Richard Friedman, known as the ‘Singing Attorney,’ has had a long career spanning law, music, and broadcasting. He began his legal career in 1965 after being admitted to The Florida Bar and sworn in by U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice William O. Douglas. Over the years, he practiced in multiple jurisdictions, taking companies public, managing mergers and acquisitions, and litigating in both state and federal courts. He also taught Securities Regulation at the University of Miami Graduate School of Law and wrote a “Securities Today” business column for newspapers in Miami and New York. Expanding beyond law, he became an NBA player agent from 1994 to 1999 through All-Star Sports Agents, Inc., representing about 65 athletes and securing contracts for them in 40 countries.

In the entertainment industry, he produced and hosted L.A. Entertainment from 2006 to 2009, an interview and performance television program broadcast to more than five million homes across southern California. As a performer himself, he has released multiple albums under his own label, USA All-Star Music BMI, founded in 1996. Released in 2025, his recent album, From Broadway With Love, continues his tradition of blending musical artistry with professional excellence. He has sung the National Anthem 35 times, including performances at NFL, NBA, WNBA, and NHL games, as well as championship boxing and other major events. His screen credits include roles in Lenny (1974), Caribe (1975), and an educational feature for The Florida Bar. A member of SAG-AFTRA, he recently served on the TV SAG Awards Nominating Committee.

Colonel Friedman was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in 1999 after meeting a Kentucky legislator in Palm Springs, California, who was impressed by his singing performance. With achievements spanning the courtroom, the concert stage, and community leadership, his 25 years as a Kentucky Colonel reflects his wide-reaching career.
