Colonel Dennis Moore

Colonel Dennis Moore, of Dearborn, MI, currently serves as the Interpretive Park Ranger at the River Raisin National Battlefield Park, and his principal assignments are the creation and implementation of first-person interpretive programs that reflect the region’s vital role in the War of 1812 and the War’s aftermath. Before serving as the Interpretive Park Ranger, he was the Public Affairs Officer at the Consulate General of Canada in Detroit, MI from 1995 until 2017. His primary responsibilities included communications, academic relations, and cultural affairs on behalf of Canada in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. Prior to joining the Consulate General, Moore spent sixteen years as a fundraising professional, including positions as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at two colleges of visual art (College for Creative Studies and Kendall College of Art & Design). He also worked for two years in the publicity office of the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England, and two years as a reporter and announcer at WUPY-WMQT Radio in Marquette, MI. He served with the U.S. Army Intelligence in the Republic of Vietnam from 1971-1972.
Colonel Moore holds a B.A. in Speech and English from Albion College and an M.A. in Theatre from the University of Michigan, with an additional year of postgraduate theatre study. He has performed in a range of theatrical settings, from community theatre to Equity houses in the United States and England. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the International Council for Canadian Studies’ Certificate of Merit, Honorary Guardsman, which was the appointed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and he was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in 2012, by Governor Steve Beshear. Volunteer service includes being on the board for the Albion College Alumni Association, Michigan Members Committee, Stratford Festival of America Foundation, the Michigan Arts and Cultural Council, and Good Works Program grant reviewer. He also holds life memberships in Veterans of Foreign Wars and Vietnam Veterans of America, runs over 800 miles per year, and practices Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan.
